The Cabin Coffee House & Cafe, located in the center of Bemidji, is a favorite amongst locals and tourists. Along with new ownership in March of 2013, came a fresh new look and updated menu. We brew Peace Coffee (Minneapolis, MN) and have an extensive standard and seasonal menu that is sure to please. Our show case features fresh bread and treats, baked daily.
We are family owned and proud to serve the area as one of Bemidji's premier locations. We provide free wi-fi, a children's area and in the warmer months you can enjoy seating in the front & rear patio areas. We look forward to your visit.
The Cabin Uptown features all the coffee & smoothie drinks you have come to love at our downtown location, as well as fresh baked goods, that are sure to have you coming back for more. Uptown also serves crepes and an expanding selection of lunch/dinner options (ask us what's available).
FACT: Brazil has one of the highest caesarean birth rates in the world. The World Health Organization recommends a c-section rate of no more than 15%. In private Brazilian hospitals, the percentage hovers between 80 and 90%. Nationwide, the c-section rate is upward of 50%. By contrast, about 30% of American women undergo caesarean births, and that rate is widely considered to be too high.
FACT: Increased Caesarean rates are associated with an increase in maternal mortality, higher use of antibiotics in the post-partum period and severe maternal morbidity, even after adjusting for confounding factors. Another prospective study also showed higher frequencies of maternal mortality, hospitalization in intensive care unit (ICU), blood transfusion, hysterectomy, antibiotic therapy and longer hospital stay for women who underwent elective Caesarean section.
FUN FACT: We are sending Tracy and Aubrey to Brazil in October on a special trip. They will be assisting in the birth of 2 [two] new babies! As an active midwife, Tracy will be bringing her unique skill set with her into "MISSION: BRAZIL BABY". With Aubrey at the assist, they will also be educating on the topic of birth. They will be there for 2 weeks, and we are very excited for them to have this opportunity. Naturally, a trip of this nature will incur a financial burden. If you are interested in this mission and want to know more, or feel so inclined to assist financially, please stop into either of our locations and chat with us. We have been raising funds through select bakery sales, but donations are always welcome as well :)
